Medical waste microwave treatment is fundamentally based on thermal disinfection through moisture heating.
Microwave energy does not directly disinfect waste. Instead, it heats the moisture within the waste, generating heat that raises the temperature to the level required for pathogen inactivation.
Effective disinfection is therefore achieved by reaching and maintaining the required temperature, rather than by direct interaction between microwave energy and microorganisms. (See study Microwave-induced inactivation is predominantly governed by thermal effects)
To enhance this process, steam is introduced into the system, significantly improving heat transfer efficiency and ensuring more uniform temperature distribution throughout the waste.
Gient steam microwave with shredder systems integrates shredding and steam microwave treatment into a single enclosed unit. As pressurized vessels, it allows the operating temperature to reach 134–138°C, which is essential for reliable sterilization.
This controlled high-temperature environment ensures effective pathogen destruction and enables the system to achieve validated sterilization performance up to STAATT Level IV.
This design enables efficient waste size reduction and uniform heating, ensuring reliable sterilization performance in a compact and automated system.
While basic microwave systems that rely solely on moisture heating disinfection, steam microwave technology enables high-temperature sterilization (134–138°C), achieving validated sterilization performance up to STAATT Level IV. (See medical waste disinfection VS sterilization)
Microwave energy directly heats moisture within the waste, while steam enhances heat distribution and efficiency, resulting in faster and more uniform treatment compared to autocla systems.
The system operates entirely on electricity, making it a green, clean and sustainable solution.
Non-incineration process with no hazardous air emissions, no chemical additives, ensuring safe and compliant operation.
Compact and modular system design allows quick installation and easy integration into existing facilities and infrastructure, minimizing civil work and commissioning time.
Reliable and Continuous Sterilization Performance
The system is designed to ensure that sterilization remains stable, consistent, and continuously effective as the core treatment process. This guarantees reliable performance for medical waste treatment and ensures greatly the safety and health of on-site personnel
